Summer is a season of joy, but unfortunately is also the mosquito season. Mosquito bites are not only annoying, they carry mosquito- borne diseases. Most commercial insect repellents contain one of two chemicals, DEET or Picaridin. Other non-topical conventional mosquitoes repellent like liquid vaporizer, mats and coils vaporize chemical ingredients into the air, making the mosquitoes drowsy and keep them away. These conventional products offer the longest-lasting protection against mosquitoes, but concerns have been raised over allergic and other reactions to exposing strong chemicals on our skin, body and respiratory system, especially on babies and young children. Babies and young children bodies are much more sensitive to toxins, absorbing them more quickly and processing them faster that we do as adults. Hence, we should balance our concern over mosquito bites with serious interest in reducing the toxicity of any product we use. Thre are various home-made mosquito repellent recipes utilizing basic essential oil such as citronella, eucalyptus, lavender, almond, etc. Although natural and safe, home made remedies are usually mild repellents and provide minimal protection against mosquito bites. Very often there is a need to re-apply constantly, not to mention the inconvenience of gathering the various ingredients and concocting them. Wouldn’t it nice to have solution that is conveniently available, easy to use, offering a natural and effective way to protect against mosquitoes bites?
