Total Time to Make: Depends on the what design of Tiki Torch We took our torches (our preferred torches come 2 to a box and we have 4 torches total for our 10’ X 30’ patio) out to our backyard where the mosquitoes are most formidable. For 30 minutes, not only did we not get a single mosquito bite we didn’t actually see a mosquito which is rare for our infested backyard. A day later, we put the torches to the ultimate test by holding a cookout in the back yard. We had 6 people and 5 dogs all in the backyard and the torches held up to the task. The pros: This natural mosquito repellent has been by far and away the most effective form of repellent that we have used in the backyard. Our torches actually provide an ambiance for a cookout and the aroma that came from the flames smelled pleasant. One fill up of fuel lasted 8 hours straight with fuel to spare. The cons: With dogs and kids you have to make sure to pay attention with the open flames. These things do put off some heat and in summer temperatures it could be uncomfortable. You will also need to keep fuel handy as these things will need to be refilled from time to time. Also, with our specific choice, some assembly is required. At first we really debated the cons for the torches but now they are our go to repellent and are perfect for a porch, deck, or even yard.
